History
spaces focuses specifically on sustainability, preserving and modernising historic and industrial buildings and opening them up for new uses, such as events.
The Bad Vilbel spa house was built by the citizens of Vilbel in 1927 and 1928. It has always been a central hub and meeting place for local and regional events. As early as 1932, an extension was added to accommodate a municipal spa. Now, a little over 90 years later, an era of family celebrations, school enrolments, ballet performances, carnival meetings, artists’ markets, concerts and political events is coming to an end at the Kurhaus.
The town is growing rapidly, and thanks to its direct connection to the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region it is now able to host national and international events. Therefore, in 2018, the city is ushering in a new era: the Kurhaus will close, the indoor swimming pool will be demolished and extensive renovation work will begin on the Kurhaus and the new, modern VILCO Congress Centre. From 2023 onwards, VILCO and the Kurhaus will host a wide variety of events, further enhancing the spa town’s appeal.
