History
spaces focuses specifically on sustainability, preserving and modernising historic and industrial buildings and opening them up for new uses, such as events.
The Thurn and Taxis Palace in Frankfurt am Main is an impressive building which was completed in 1739. Over the centuries, it has served as the seat of the Imperial Post Office, a princely residence, the Bundestag and a museum, to name a few. Following severe damage during the war and decades of use as a telecommunications centre, the palace was extensively restored and returned to its former glory.
Today, the palace successfully combines history and modernity. Spaces breathes new life into old buildings like this with energy-efficient technology, sustainable operation and comprehensive environmental management (EMAS certification), enabling them to be used sustainably without losing their identity. This enables these historic spaces to remain vibrant for future generations.
